Quit or Reduce Drinking Alcohol
Dr. Ascher follows a harm reduction approach, which means that he will work with you to reach the goals that you set for yourself. For some, this means abstaining from drinking alcohol entirely, and for others, it can mean learning how to drink in a less risky way. For a subset of patients, the Sinclair Method can be used to decrease an individual’s craving for alcohol. Other medications such as acamprosate, baclofen, Topamax, and Neurontin can also be used as well. For patients with severe alcohol use issues, Antabuse (disulfiram), can be effective.
